2012 Season

DIRECTOR Tom Hoy

Tom returns for his 11th season as Director after serving as the Assistant Director for 21 years. Tom is the Math Department Chairman at Godwin High School as well as the Golf Coach and the Boys Tennis Coach. Tom and his wife, Kathy, have five children and five grandchildren.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Martha Hodges

Martha Hodges returns for her 13th season as Assistant Director after having been the head lifeguard for 13 years. Martha is a newly retired Tuckahoe Middle School teacher and coaches both the Girls and Boys Tennis Teams. She will also be in charge of the Early Bird Swim and the Lifeguarding classes.

PART-TIME ASSISTANT DIRECTOR Chip Carter

Chip Carter will return for his 5th season as a part-time Assistant Director. Chip is an English teacher at Godwin High School and is also the newspaper adviser there.

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Lifeguards:

Qualifications: Must be Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard/CPR certified (Note: If your certification will expire before the end of the summer, it can be updated with a course offered by KRA on weekends in May. Contact the manager.)

Minimum age: 16 years old

Schedule: Lifeguards are scheduled to work 11 days in every 14-day (2-week) cycle, including every other weekend. Guards work 30 hours of one week and 42 hours the following week.

Salary: Lifeguards are paid a summer salary.

Gatekeepers:

Qualifications: Must be dependable, friendly, able to keep track of guest money, and comfortable turning away uninvited guests

Minimum age: 14 years old

Schedule: Gatekeepers work 4-hour shifts on weekdays and 5-hour shifts on weekends. They are given two days off each week or every third weekend.

Salary: Gatekeepers are paid a weekend salary.

Groundskeepers:

Qualifications: Must be able to operate lawn mower, WeedEater, yard tools, and willing to learn pool maintenance

Minimum age: 14 years old

Schedule: Groundskeepers begin work at 8:AM Monday through Saturday and at 9:AM on Sunday. They usually work two to four hours per day. Some evening work is expected when there are special events such as swim meets, social events, or when schools are still in session.

Salary: Groundskeepers are paid an hourly wage.

If you are interested in one of these positions, please fill out an application and submit it to one of the managers between November 1 and February 1. An application can be downloaded from this Website. Please mail completed applications directly to pool managers, Tom Hoy or Martha Hodges. See the KRA directory for their addresses. Returning employees do not need to submit another application. They do need to contact the managers to let them know if they plan to return and if they wish to work in the same position or in a different position.
